It's Been a While.....

Yikes, so one of my pet peeves is blogs (or any websites for that matter) that aren't updated on a semi-regularly basis.....and yikes, I've done the same myself, not even going to try and make an excuse for myself (since I don't even know if anyone visits my blog yet to read my excuses...lol).

Here's a project I completed yesterday, a Valentine's candy bouquet for a charity event next weekend.

I used my BigShot and several of the Sizzix and Stampin Up Dies for the flowers, added some bling with glitter dots and rhinestones that I was lucky enough to find on clearance this week and put it all together in a teracotta pot. I made a similar one before using my Cricut but I have found that it is much easier to mass produce the flowers using the BigShot, sometimes technology isn't the best way.

Enjoy, I hope to be back very soon with some more Valentine's goodies!

Another week....and no Animal Kingdom....

Well, a full week has passed and I haven't started on my Cutting Through My Carts challenge, I've had strep throat, a sinus infection and now a badly sprained ankle, so I think I will put my challenge on hold until after Christmas as I still have Christmas cards and some projects for school to take care of.
In the meantime, here are two cards I made for a friend, one for a baby shower (girl) and one for the arrival of a new baby boy.
I used New Arrival for both, and am in love with Elmer's Spray Adhesive for glitter, much easier and neater and dries so fast!
Have a look,

I also made this card for a friend's birthday (though my various ailments prevented me from attending the birthday dinner). The inside sentiment reads "Need help with the candles?". It was made using Everyday Paper Dolls and again, I am loving the spray adhesive for glitter, I also used some brads that I got from the SU Clearance Rack a while back to accent the wheels on the firetruck.

That's it for now, I'll be back in a day or two with some christmas cards, I am working on some simple ones for Hubby's work using the Little Felt Flurries and some prefolded cards I picked up at Wal-Mart. I am also working on some one sheet wonders with an assortment of printed paper and of course, some with my Cricut, so stay tuned!

Not Animal Kingdom.....but a project from today

So I didn't get started on my Alphabet book after all, I got caught up in trying to rearrange/personalize my blog and ended up making a mess of it and then realized that I forgot about a card I had promised a friend I would make for her granddaughter's birthday.
I debated making a butterfly shaped card using Create a Critter but decided to go with a large butterfly cut and bling it up instead.
Now I just need to find a way to de-glitter my craft room, that's tomorrow's project!
Good night

What to do....

I have been thinking about what I can do to liven up my blog, and hopefully inspire a few followers (or even frequent visitors) as well as to use my ever growing stock of craft supplies, and then the idea came to me. My Cricut is by far my favourite tool in my craft room (Hus-bee bought it for me for Valentine's, how romantic) but it doesn't always get the loving it deserves, and some of my cartridges haven't produced a single cut yet.....so I am issuing myself a challenge, Cutting Through my Carts! My goal is to select a cartridge and each day for a month I will make something using that cartridge, using a different cut each time. I think I will select one of my less loved carts for my first project. I am going to use Animal Kingdom which I bought on sale at Michael's this spring and haven't used at all. My idea is to make an alphabet book for my nephew, and I think this cart could really come in handy for that, and I'll use Plantin Schoolbook for the letters as I don't really have many font carts.....uh oh, I feel a shopping trip coming on.

I'll be back later today with my first cut!

My first card order

Here's a picture of a card that was requested by a friend of mine for a a baby shower for a mom expecting twin girls recently. I used Design Studio to add the "S" to "Sweet Pea" on the New Arrival Cricut Cartridge and put two peas in the pod and stamped the faces with some Peachy Keen stamps (love these for the paper doll carts).
Hope you like! I am hoping to have some recent projects to post by the weekend, today's craft room loving did not happen after all, I got a call this morning and had to get myself to work ASAP, and tonight I am off shopping with a crafty friend, hopefully I will have some wonderful finds (at a bargain) to add to my craft room.

My first post

Here goes,
my first post on my crafty blog! I've used blogs in some of my course work in the past year, and there are numerous craft blogs that I "stalk" on a daily basis for ideas (though I must confess I seem to spend far more time stalking than crafting, but it just seems there are so many wonderful things out there to see).

I've started this blog in hopes of actually doing more crafting (blogs/websites that are not well maintained/regularly updated are one of my biggest pet peeves), I hope to post a few times a week to start and then hopefully every day. I may be a little slower at first as I am hoping to spend the next little while "prettying" up my blog space and trading in the template for a custom background.

I've been keeping photos of many of the cards and projects I make, so lucky for me I have some things to get my blog rolling. One thing is for sure, I need to get a better setup for taking pictures of my projects, the shadows and colours are horrible, but its a start.

Here's a picture of a wedding card I made this summer for one of the 7 (yep, 7) weddings that hus-bee and I attended, the card was inspired by one of my favourite bloggers, Kellybee.

And because I'm just so excited about my new blog here's a second picture of some Thanksgiving treats I made for my coworkers.

That's all I have for now, but tomorrow is a new day, and I am finished TWO term papers, so that leaves lots of time for crafting so stay tuned!
